2025 Placer County School Counselor of the Year Announced

ROCKLIN, CA (MPG) – Placer County Superintendent of Schools Gayle Garbolino-Mojica is pleased to announce Rachel Burkett as the 2025 Placer County School Counselor of the Year.

"The role of school counselors is more essential than ever,” said Placer County Superintendent of Schools Gayle Garbolino-Mojica. “They are at the heart of student success, offering critical support in academics, college and career planning, and mental wellness. Counselors empower students to set meaningful goals, build resilience, and thrive in and out of the classroom. We are deeply grateful for their dedication to our school communities.”

Rachel Burkett is a compassionate and visionary school counselor whose leadership has strengthened student support across Placer Elementary School and the Loomis Union School District. From building an inclusive school culture to mentoring future counselors, her work demonstrates a deep commitment to student well-being, positive behavior, and authentic connection. Her daily impact and tireless dedication truly set her apart.
