LOOMIS, CA (MPG) — For Loomis artist Kellyn Planteen, NASCAR started as something she watched every weekend. Now, it has become the focus of her art career.

Planteen first gained local recognition through a series of paintings celebrating the landscapes and small towns of Placer County, a region where she has deep family roots. 

Her current body of work started as a personal passion for NASCAR. What began as art made by a fan, for fans, has evolved into a deeper exploration of the sport's legacy.

Kellyn says about her artwork, “what started as a few paintings of cars that I liked has turned into a mission to capture the culture of NASCAR” 

Planteen’s NASCAR artwork has quickly gained attention. She has received commissions from NASCAR drivers Erik Jones and Harrison Burton, while also building a growing audience online. 

This October, Planteen will make her first trip to Talladega Superspeedway, bringing her artwork along with her as she experiences one of NASCAR's most iconic race weekends for the first time.

Planteen will return to Loomis just in time for the Placer Artists Tour, where she will open her working studio to the public. This will be her third year participating in the Placer Artists Tour, but her first since her NASCAR-inspired paintings have become a major part of her professional art career.

Visitors can see Planteen's artwork, meet the artist and step inside the Loomis studio where she creates her paintings every day.

Kellyn Planteen’s studio will be open during the Placer Artists Tour on November 6–8 and November 13–15. Her studio is located at 3827 Hickey Lane.
