LINCOLN, CA (MPG) - As America celebrates 250 years of independence, FieldHaven Feline Center is inviting the community to help local cats declare their own freedom during a special Feline Independence Day Adoption Promotion running July 1 through July 5.

During the five-day event, adoption fees for all cats over the age of one year are half off.

The promotion is designed to help adult cats find loving homes while creating much-needed space for the hundreds of cats and kittens currently entering the organization's care during the busy summer season.

"Everyone loves kittens, but adult cats make incredible companions," said Makenna Gwaltney, Executive Director of FieldHaven Feline Center. "They're already developed personalities, many are past the energetic kitten stage, and they're ready to settle into family life. We thought America's 250th birthday was the perfect opportunity to celebrate a little feline independence as well."

Available cats range from playful young adults to mature companions looking for a quiet place to call home. All adoptable cats have been spayed or neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and received appropriate medical care prior to adoption.

While kittens will also be available for adoption, the half-off promotion applies only to cats over one year of age.

Adoption opportunities will be available at FieldHaven Feline Center, 2754 Ironwood Lane, Lincoln, open daily from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. with kittens specifically on site on Saturday, June 27, and FieldHaven Marketplace, 454 F St., Downtown Lincoln, open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. with kittens specifically on site on Saturday, June 27.

Prospective adopters are encouraged to arrive early, as adoptions are completed in person and are offered on a first-come, first-served basis.

For more information and to view some available cats and kittens, visit FieldHaven's website or stop by one of the adoption locations this weekend.
