It will also support school and district leaders in developing strong, sustainable literacy plans and offer multilingual resources to support families create literacy-rich home environments. In addition, the effort will foster community partnerships that expand access to literacy supports and use continuous improvement practices to ensure strategies are effective for all students.

The partnership leverages the combined expertise of ten county offices to strengthen literacy instruction statewide while remaining responsive to local needs. Within Placer County, the Placer County Office of Education continues its hands-on commitment to students and educators through the Placer County Reads literacy initiative, working directly with local schools, families and community partners. At the statewide level, PCOE’s role focuses on leading the charge, providing guidance and support for systems that strengthen literacy instruction for students across California.
