Western Sierra Collegiate Academy Claims 2026 Academic Decathlon Title

ROCKLIN, CA (MPG) - Western Sierra Collegiate Academy has been named the 2026 Placer County Academic Decathlon champion with an impressive team score of 36,482.20. The team will now advance to represent Placer County in the California Academic Decathlon in March.
The annual display of academic excellence brought together top students from across the county to demonstrate skills in critical thinking, collaboration and knowledge, with teams from Antelope and Roseville High Schools (Roseville Joint Union High School District) and Rocklin High School (Rocklin Unified School District) also participating in this year’s event.
“Year after year, I am impressed by the dedication and focus our students bring to the Academic Decathlon,” said Placer County Superintendent of Schools Gayle Garbolino-Mojica. “Their commitment to learning truly sets them apart.”

Abigail Muller from Western Sierra Collegiate Academy also claimed the top spot as a Gold Super Decathlete, earning the highest cumulative score from all ten events.

This year's Academic Decathlon, themed “the Roaring Twenties,” invited students to explore the era through disciplines spanning mathematics, science, art, literature and more. Placer County teams collectively received more than 100 individual accolades, including 35 bronze, 35 silver and 32 gold medals.Abigail Muller from Western Sierra Collegiate Academy also claimed the top spot as a Gold Super Decathlete, earning the highest cumulative score from all ten events.
