AUBURN, CA (MPG) - Placer County Board of Supervisors Chair and District 2 Supervisor Shanti Landon has been appointed to the Board of Directors of the Rural Advancement Institute, a nonprofit organization affiliated with the Rural County Representatives of California.

The Rural Advancement Institute works to educate legislators, government officials and the public about the unique challenges and opportunities facing California’s rural communities.

The organization supports this mission through educational tours of rural regions and research initiatives that are designed to inform effective public policy.

“Rural communities, which make up 61% of California’s land mass, face distinct challenges that are often misunderstood or overlooked in policy discussions,” said Landon. “Serving on the Rural Advancement Institute Board allows me to help bring legislators out of the city and into rural areas, where they can see firsthand the realities our communities face. I’m honored to help amplify rural voices and work toward policies that better reflect the needs of all Californians.”

As a member of the Rural Advancement Institute Board, Landon will help guide the organization’s efforts to connect policymakers with rural communities and support research that strengthens long-term outcomes for California’s rural regions.

The Rural Advancement Institute plays a key role in fostering dialogue between rural counties and state leaders, helping bridge gaps between local experience and statewide policy development.
