STATELINE, NV (MPG) - The Tahoe Rim Trail Association (TRTA) is excited to announce that registration for its 2026 Youth Backcountry Camps opens 10 a.m. on Wednesday Jan. 14, inviting youth ages 12 to 17 to embark on immersive four-day wilderness backpacking adventures along the iconic Tahoe Rim Trail.
Designed to foster outdoor skills, leadership and a lasting connection to nature, the Youth Backcountry Camps offer participants the chance to explore scenic wilderness terrain under the guidance of trained backcountry instructors. Throughout each session, youth will learn essential backcountry living skills, Leave No Trace principles, local ecology and geology, teamwork, and outdoor leadership.
Campers will hike between three and six miles per day, cook meals over backpacking stoves, and sleep beneath the stars, creating lifelong memories and new friendships along the way.
The 2026 camp dates are as follows.
June 24 to 27 (Ages 12-14), July 10 to 13 (Ages 14–17), July 28 to 31 (Ages 12–14) and August 3 to 6 (Ages 14–17).
The Tahoe Rim Trail Association offers a sliding scale registration fee so that financial barriers do not prevent participation, and scholarships are available for families in need. More program details, including eligibility, trip expectations, and registration links, can be found at tahoerimtrail.org/youth-backcountry-camps/.
