TAHOE CITY, CA (MPG) - Community members are invited to learn more about the amendments proposed for the Village at Palisades Tahoe Specific Plan and ask questions at a special meeting of the Olympic Valley Municipal Advisory Council on Dec. 8 at 6 p.m.
This in-person meeting will provide updates on the plan and include Alterra Mountain Company, owner and developer of Palisades Tahoe, as well as county staff. The meeting will be held at the Olympic Village Event Center (1901 Chamonix Place) in Olympic Valley.
Participants can ask questions, provide comments and learn details about the plan at this meeting.
The Village at Palisades Tahoe Specific Plan has seen various iterations in the past decade. The project was initially approved by the county’s Board of Supervisors in 2016, litigated and brought back to the board in 2024. The specific plan was approved by the board Nov. 19, 2024, and litigated a second time. In July, Palisades Tahoe reached an agreement with the League to Save Lake Tahoe and Sierra Watch to settle litigation challenging the proposed development in Olympic Valley. The agreement resulted in the applicant proposing a reduction of the proposed project.
The amended plan reduces the total bedrooms within the specific plan by 40 percent from 1493 to 896, reduces total new commercial space by 20 percent in the main Village area from 277,733 to 222,000 square feet, affirms the permanent elimination of an indoor waterpark within the Village Specific Plan area, protects the land that was proposed for development at the base of Shirley Canyon by creating a conservation easement, preserving the land for recreation and public trail access in perpetuity, and sets a plan for development within the specific plan boundary for 25 years
