AUBURN, CA (MPG) - The Placer County Conservation Program will host a Raccoon Creek Ranch conservation and restoration kickoff event to celebrate the permanent protection and restoration of 4,245 acres of prime farmland, open space and streams north of Lincoln.
AUBURN, CA (MPG) - The Placer County Conservation Program will host a Raccoon Creek Ranch conservation and restoration kickoff event to celebrate the permanent protection and restoration of 4,245 acres of prime farmland, open space and streams north of Lincoln.
The event will include remarks from Placer County Conservation Program leaders, a sign unveiling and a guided tour of Raccoon Creek, where major restoration work is planned. Speakers will be available for media interviews.
The kickoff event is set to take place 10 a.m. Nov. 7 at Raccoon Creek Ranch, 2150 Coon Creek Lane, Lincoln CA.
Speakers will include Gregg McKenzie, Placer County Conservation Program administrator and Placer Conservation Authority executive director and Shanti Landon, Placer Conservation Authority board chair and Placer County District 2 supervisor.The Raccoon Creek Ranch project marks one of the most significant conservation milestones in Placer County history: 4,245 acres permanently protected from development and mining; 1,299 acres of active agricultural production; 6 miles of stream system supporting salmon and steelhead habitat; $61 million total investment in conservation and restoration efforts; creates one of the largest contiguous blocks of protected land in West Placer County.
