AUBURN, CA (MPG) - Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) is relocating a natural gas main and underground power lines along Highway 49 between Luther Road and Edgewood Road just south of Dry Creek Road in Auburn.
Work will occur from Sept. 29 to early November and take place Sunday to Thursday nights from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. Crews will install 1,500 feet of all-new 8-inch natural gas main and 1,500 feet of all-new conduit and underground power lines
Work is occurring at night to reduce traffic impacts. The outside southbound lane of Highway 49 will be closed during work hours, with the inside southbound lane fully open.
The work is being done at the request of the Placer County Transportation Agency and Caltrans which will build a pedestrian walkway and install new storm drainage along the highway.
Crews will trench to upgrade the gas main.
PG&E has notified customers in the neighborhoods by automated phone calls.
In December, PG&E will thread new electric cables into the underground conduit, requiring a lane closure for approximately three weeks working Sunday to Thursday nights from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m.
