ROCKLIN, CA (MPG) - In support of its community and future, Placer County aids nonprofits through community grant funds, staff expertise, and community connections.
Donations and volunteer support, as well as spreading the word, allow for Placer County organizations to expand their impact and success.
Placer Land Trust
Located in Rocklin, Clover Valley is one of the last remaining intact sections of oak woodlands in western Placer County. It was under threat of development but the team at Placer Land Trust and their partners worked tirelessly to acquire and permanently protect 402 acres in the heart of Clover Valley, at the discounted purchase price of $10M.
City and County funds, alongside individual philanthropists and gifts from Placer Community Foundation funds and local citizens were pooled to reach this critical goal by the March 2025 deadline.
Clover Valley is home to a wide variety of ecosystems, wildlife habitat, and historic Native American sites. In one area of the valley, beavers have created a 20-acre wetland along Clover Valley Creek that is now home to a rare and threatened bird species, the California black rail.
A stone’s throw away, you can see where Native Americans lived in harmony with nature for thousands of years. Nature tells an amazing story in Clover Valley, and its why Placer Land Trust worked so hard to protect it.
Unity Care Group

Unity Care Group reached out to the Placer Community Foundation with an urgent need to house two foster youth, aged 18. To secure the housing sites, two apartments needed to be fully furnished within a very short time frame. Placer Community Foundation donors responded quickly to cover this expense.
Now housed, each youth has been paired with a dedicated case manager who helps them navigate their academic, professional, and overall well-being needs.
While learning to live independently, Unity Care staff support them in completing high school, enrolling in vocational programs or college, exploring career pathways, and securing employment—guiding them into a successful transition into adulthood.
