Truckee Literary Crawl 2025 Happening on April 5

TRUCKEE, CA (MPG) – Get ready for an unforgettable free literary experience at the April 5 Truckee Literary Crawl, where an eclectic mix of authors will showcase the richness of storytelling across multiple genres. 

The event kicks off at 1 p.m. at the Artist Lofts with live music and a welcome by founders Katherine Hill and Priya Hutner. Truckee Cultural Arts District Program Manager Kellie Cutler and Nevada County Arts Council Executive Director Eliza Tudor will offer a few words about the importance of the literary arts. Nevada County Poet Laureate Karen Terrey will set the tone with a kickoff poem. The program concludes with a poem by Reno Poet Laureate Jesse James Ziegler and a performance by artist and songwriter Alice Osborn. 

The lineup features a compelling blend of fiction, poetry, memoir, non-fiction, storytelling, and children's literature. Fiction lovers will enjoy readings from Liz Tucker, Cathee Van Rossen, Matt Schnetter, and Danielle Kathleen, while fantasy enthusiasts can look forward to works by Angela Laverghette and Richard Arbib. 

Non-fiction, a strong presence at the event, will be represented by notable authors like Suzanne Roberts, Michael Branch, and Gemma Hartley, while essayists such as Danny Neilson and Lisa Michelle will add their voices.

Poetry will take center stage with performances by Michaelyn Logue, Teresa Breeden, and Ziegler, among others, while storytelling aficionados can enjoy works by Fil Corbit and Kim Bateman. 

Memoirists Sue Norman, Priya Hutner, and Bruce Rettig will share personal narratives, and children’s authors Emmanuel Rose and Courtney Clio will bring stories for younger audiences.

This literary gathering promises an inspiring afternoon celebrating the power of words in all their forms. Don't miss this unique opportunity to experience a vibrant mix of voices, genres, and creative expressions.

In the evening, enjoy a Dark Skies Open Mic Night at Alibi Ale Works Truckee Public House open to all literary forms – poetry, prose, songwriting, etc. – created around a Dark Sky theme from 6 to 8 p.m. Nevada County Poet Laureate Karen Terrey of Truckee will host the Open Mic. Sign-ups will be available at Alibi from 5 to 5:45 p.m. and each performance is limited to 3 minutes. Details on the Open Mic are available online

The Literary Crawl will feature readings and performances at 9848 Gallery at Truckee Artists Loft, Capitol Theater, Craft & Logic, Gallery 5830, Piper J Gallery, and Uncorked from 1 to 5 p.m. A schedule for the day is available at TruckeeLitCrawl.com.
