PLACER COUNTY, CA (MPG) - In February, Granite Bay resident Mr. R. Jan Pinney and Roseville resident Mr. Andrew Tagg were selected to fill provisional appointments on the Placer County Board of Education (County Board). Mr. Pinney is serving Area 4, which covers the Eureka Union School District and parts of Roseville City School District (Cirby Ranch, Maidu and East Roseville Parkway). Mr. Tagg serves Area 2, which covers the Dry Creek Joint Elementary School District and parts of Roseville City School District (Kaseberg and Hilltop Circle).

Mr. Pinney is a well-regarded business leader and military veteran who is influential in the life insurance and property/casualty insurance industries. He is a founding board member of the Eureka Schools Foundation and former school board trustee of the Roseville Joint Union High School District where he served for more than 20 years. Additionally, Mr. Pinney served his community and the greater Sacramento region through leadership roles with the Sacramento Suburban Kiwanis Club, Golden Empire Council of the Boys Scouts of America and the Sacramento County Red Tape Task Force.

“I want to make a difference in my community," said Mr. Pinney. "The most important thing we do is educate our children to be upstanding members of society. We need to ensure the curriculum they are taught uplifts them and points them to service. I can think of nothing more important than public education for the success of our citizenry and for the success of our country."

Mr. Tagg serves as Vice President, Commercial Banking for First Northern Bank and brings more than 25 years of finance expertise to the County Board. He recently served as a school board trustee, and former Board President, for the Roseville Joint Union High School District and has been intricately involved in the south Placer community. Mr. Tagg has solidified relationships with business leaders, community leaders, educators and members of local nonprofit organizations.  He has also served on Placer Breast Cancer Foundation, City of Roseville Library Board, and Dry Creek school site councils.

"I strongly believe in our public education system and in public service," said Mr. Tagg. "I believe every student should benefit from a quality education and environment that produces a path for success."

Both Mr. Pinney and Mr. Tagg will serve on the board until the next regularly scheduled election in November 2022.
