AUBURN, CA (MPG) - The Sierra Nevada Conservancy (SNC), a California state agency, will host its quarterly Governing Board meeting via teleconference March 4 at 9:00 a.m.

The packed agenda will include board action on several items necessary to respond to immediate action budget proposals pending before the State Legislature. These include grant guidelines for 2021 Immediate Action Wildfire and Forest Resilience grants that would be distributed by the SNC through its Sierra Nevada Watershed Improvement Program (WIP) and authority to enter into additional agreements with partner agencies related to the Administration’s Wildfire and Forest Resilience budget package.

In addition, the board will consider approval of two WIP Forest Health planning grants in the North State, one to the Lassen Fire Safe Council for their Thompson Peak Initiative, and another to the National Mule Deer Association for the Fandango Planning Project, a landscape level restoration planning effort covering 20,000 acres.

Finally, the board will receive informational updates from staff and consultants regarding SNC’s activities, the Tahoe-Central Sierra Initiative, and the Roadmap to Resilience, a regional restoration planning effort seeking to build on lessons learned through the Sierra Nevada Watershed Improvement Program.
