The Electric Vehicle Has Arrived: Enjoy a Cold One While Learning
Mar 16, 2020 12:00AM ● By By Lizzie MooreSACRAMENTO REGION, CA (MPG) - On Wednesday, March 18th at 6:00 pm, at the Moonraker Brewing Company, Guy Hall of the Sacramento Electrical Vehicle Association will share an informative, 30-minute introduction to electric vehicles (or EVs). “The Electric Vehicle Has Arrived” provides an introduction to EVs on the market and addresses which EVs might be right for you, including information on used EV’s, new models, leases and purchases. Find out what owners like about EVs, the costs, incentives, range and impact on the community.
Hall, who is also the Board Secretary of the Electric Auto Association and Director of the Sacramento Clean City Board, is looking forward to the evening, noting what an exciting time it is for electric vehicles. “We are finding we can help protect the planet and have fun doing it,” he said. Shandon Schmeiske, Co-President of hosting organization 350 Placer, added, “I encourage people not to miss this opportunity to ask about EV’s in a relaxed, fun setting. And you get to enjoy great craft beer as well!”
Electric vehicle ownership is growing in the Auburn region. On Saturday, February 22nd, over 25 local EV owners turned out for an EV rally organized by the local group 350Placer.org, dedicated to substantially reducing carbon dioxide levels. The rally included a wide range of cars from BMW, Chevy, Ford, Kia, Nissan, Toyota, and Tesla - including a rare, head-turning Tesla Roadster. After driving through town with “I’m Electric” signs in the windows, the EV drivers lunched in downtown Auburn central square. Topics like the joy of not paying for gas, ease of carpool lane commuting, almost zero maintenance, being green and clean, and the fun of the quiet, responsive vehicles were amongst many reasons these owners love their electric cars.
One Chevy Bolt owner even joined the rally by happenstance. “I was just picking up supplies at Home Depot when I saw the sign directing folks to EV rally staging. I had no idea this was happening but just joined in and it was great fun to meet other EV owners. I added solar to my house and it feels great to now drive with low cost, clean energy,” he said.
