Teamsters Joint Council 7, representing 100,000 working men and women in 22 local unions in Northern California, the Central Valley, and Northern Nevada, has endorsed Sheriff Scott Jones for Congress in the 7th district.

“We are endorsing Scott Jones because of his strong stance against the Trans Pacific Partnership and commitment to protecting American jobs,” said Rome Aloise, President of Teamsters Joint Council 7. “With 10,000 good-paying union jobs in California’s vital dairy industry at stake, we need someone in this seat whose word we can count on.  We are confident that Scott Jones is the right person for the job.”

Local Teamsters members work in trucking, warehousing/distribution, freight, food processing, dairies, solid waste/recycling, public services, beverages, and more.

“I am very happy to receive the endorsement of the Teamsters,” said Jones. “These are men and women who work hard every day to provide for their families. They are rightfully worried about federal policies that do not value their vital contribution to our nation’s economy. They deserve to have a representative who values the job they do and will work to protect middle class working families who are under so much pressure in the current economy.”

Sheriff Scott Jones is challenging incumbent Congressman Ami Bera in the 7th congressional district. Jones is the current President of the California Peace Officers Association and sits on many professional and community boards, including Make-a-Wish. Jones has a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice from CSU Sacramento, and a Juris Doctor (Law) degree from Lincoln Law School. He is also a graduate of the West Point Leadership Program, as well as the FBI’s National Executive Institute.
